Gravel Farm, situated in 12-acres of Fenland countryside close to Ely in Cambridgeshire, is a truly special place where you can create a wedding that is unique to you. The awe-inspiring big skies, wide open spaces, view of Ely Cathedral on the horizon and riverside provide the perfect backdrop.

 

You will appreciate the privacy that comes with exclusive use of the venue and can stay in our stylish cottages. What’s more, our weekend weddings mean that you can take your time to enjoy things and relax with friends and family over two days.

 

The joy of our Cambridgeshire wedding venue is that while it is a secluded haven, we are not remote and can be easily reached from Cambridge via the A10 and London, via the M11.

 

Weddings at The Lily Pond

Gravel Farm is a family business with a dedicated local team. We treat every wedding individually and have an ‘all wishes catered for’ mantra, meaning that we give personal attention to all your requests and requirements. We can be by your side to help you plan your bespoke wedding.

We only host a handful of weddings at Gravel Farm every year. They are held up at our wonderful Lily Pond; a beautiful and secluded oasis tucked away out of sight yet within walking distance of our luxurious onsite accommodation. Willow Cottage can comfortably sleep 8-10 people and is ideal for the bridal party.

​

​Alongside the Lily Pond, we have a wonderful ‘fairytale-esque’ woodland area, perfect for an intimate wedding blessing and space for your very own boutique guest glamping village.

​Your Blank Canvas wedding venue

It’s your day. Gravel Farm is the perfect blank canvas backdrop within which to create your

very own outdoor multiple-day wedding – tailor-made by you (not us!) for you and up to 180 guests. Whether you imagine a simple and intimate wedding or a more lavish occasion, you want a rustic wedding, a vintage look or something more traditional, you can create your perfect day at our exclusive wedding venue near Ely.

Dug by owner James during the first lockdown and perfectly placed for your very own tipi or marquee, our Lily Pond Meadow also offers plenty of space for an outdoor reception and bar, funfair games and entertainment, as well as ample parking for you and your guests.

​

You and your guests will be able to dance under big Fenland skies and reconnect with nature as you look out across the open countryside or as you cosily sit toasting marshmallows beside the firepit. With plenty of wonderful woodland, grassland and riverside backdrops to choose from, you will be spoilt for choice for wedding photograph opportunities.

 

At Gravel Farm, we like to make things as easy as possible for you. We put up fairy lights and also provide lighting, signage and parking. We share our black book of suppliers with you and put you in touch with florists, marquee companies, caterers, prop hire, cake makers and photographers who can provide everything you need for your wedding. Our Wedding Venue is Exclusively Yours

We provide the magnificent Fenland backdrop complete with the River Great Ouse; you bring your own style. At Gravel Farm, you do your wedding, your way. Whether you want a festival wedding or a stylish marquee wedding, you can make it happen here. Our outdoor wedding venue near Ely is exclusively yours.

With the freedom to put whatever personal stamp you wish on your special celebration, our wedding package provides your party with the entire site for two days, including accommodation for two nights in our beautiful and individually designed onsite cottages, allowing you to relax and create memories both before and after the main event.

 

The options are endless - from a pre-wedding dinner or perhaps some pampering for the bride and bridesmaids, to organised activities such as fishing, paddleboarding or canoeing to enjoy the day before or after the wedding. You can reuse the marquee on the Sunday for a wedding brunch and have a leisurely day, which could include a boat trip from Ely to Gravel Farm. Your weekend wedding will become an extended celebration with close friends and family, giving you more time to enjoy every moment.

We are limiting ourselves to 10 weddings per year to ensure complete flexibility and exclusivity for you (and so we don't have to chase you out at 10am the day after your wedding!) and to ensure that our space is at its best. We are only offering weddings between April and October, so please get in touch as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
